Activist Sunette Bridges falsely linked to treason plot

August 23 2013. Popular Afrikaans singer/activist Sunette Bridges considers suing the Mail & Guardian newspaper and also a certain 'lawyer' in Pretoria for widely  publishing slanderous allegations that Ms Bridges was 'funding terrorism' -- claiming she was "linked" to one of the four Afrikaner men who in December last year, were arrested in a glare of media-attention with claims that they 'wanted to bomb the ANC conference in Bloemfontein ('Mangaung'). The Mail & Guardian repeated false claims from Facebook pages that one of the accused men, Hein Boonzaaier, had been Miss Bridges 'bookkeeper." Ms Bridges has denied the claims, saying while she knew Mr Boonzaaier, he had advised her on financial matters but had never been her 'bookkeeper'.

Please note: Ms Bridges was not arrested, nor charged with anything.  Yet the Mail & Guardian published a huge article naming her prominently, describing her as the 'fund raiser for terrorists'. And that 'the 'plot was hatched at a Day of the Vow commemorative event in Prieska, where the patriotic Afrikaner artist had sung....

Oops! And then the Mail and Guardian falls flat on its face:

all 'charges' against Ms Bridges' supposed 'bookkeeper' Hein Boonzaaier were dismissed in Bloemfontein court on August 23 2013:

On August 23 2013, all the charges against Mr Boonzaaier in the perceived 'Mangaung4 Treason plot'  were withdrawn--  and his case dismissed out of hand. Two of the four remaining men have been in prison for the past eight months, one was granted bail. No charges whatsoever have been formulated against them. It is claimed they will go on trial 'soon'.

Bridges: False allegations published by 'a certain group of liars who sold the lie to the Mail & Guardian newspaper:

Bridges writes: 'Immediately after the arrest of the four men, there were false allegations published by a certain group of liars on Facebook that Hein Boonzaaier had been the 'official bookkeeper' for my non-profit trust. They also sold that lie to the Mail & Guardian newspaper. The newspaper then proceeded to publish this lie - and thus also implied that I was 'involved with funding terrorism'. There also were false claims that I was 'arrested over Christmas 2012 for 'funding terrorism'. Not only has Hein (Boonzaaier) been found not guilty of all the charges against him, but the slanderous claims against me have also been proven to be false. I publish pageviews of the said slander (below)".
