DA SOUSA CARLOS and ANNA executed tied up Verwoerdpark Nov22011 4 bl males sought

The four black  male suspects were identified via CCTV footage from the house across the street. The bodies were discovered on November 2 2011 by the maid who answered the phone shortly after she arrived for work at about 09:00. The caller wanted to speak to the home owner. When the maid walked down the passage to call to the wife or husband about the phone call, she stumbled upon the bodies, she told the police.  First she found Anna da Sousa’s body in the second bedroom with her hands and feet tied with thick sellotape. A pillow was used to silence the  sound of the gunshot and Mrs Da Sousa was shot  dead when she was totally defenceless: shot through the head execution style.

The maid then ran to the main bedroom to call out the husband. She found Mr Da Sousa, hands and feet tied up and also shot dead: his face was pulverised by a gunshot. She then ran outside screaming for a neighbour to help, who then called the police.  Warrant Officer Anzuette Erasmus from Alberton Police stated that they received the call at 09:15 and it was referred to a ‘house robbery’.

However there was neither any sign of a forced entry nor was the house ransacked. “There were certain cupboards that were searched through, but the house wasn’t a mess like when a house robbery occurs," she explains, "There is a firearm missing, as well as a small safe with petty cash."

Police suspect that the murder happened late on Tuesday afternoon, because the couple’s vehicles, which they usually pull into their garage overnight, were still parked in front of the house.

An hour and a half after the police were notified, the couple’s bodies were still inside the house at 10:20, when the RECORD arrived on the scene and police were awaiting the forensic team.  Also noticed on the photograph was that a local realtor was advertising the house being for sale.
