Whitmore Percy Noellen Bonuaro Park Kempton pensioners murdered Aug42011LookLocal journalist Bernice Maune quoted w/o Cobus Holloway, spokesman for Sebenza SAPS, as saying that 'the man was hit over the head with a blunt object and then suffocated with a bag. We believe his wife was tied up but managed to get loose and tried to get away. She was stabbed in the back and her throat was slit," Holloway said. "We suspect it happened in the morning because of the condition of the bodies. Everything in the house was thrown about and it is not known what if anything is missing at this stage because of the mess," said Holloway.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton SAPS spokesman, said the murdered couple were found by their son early Thursday evening. "He had tried to called his parents but there was no answer. He decided to go to the house. He alerted the police to what had happened," said Mtshali. He said the door to the house had been forced open and police were busy with investigations."The bodies were taken to a government mortuary for a post mortem where our forensic experts will conduct an investigation. We would like for people with information to come forward and contact W/O Terence Buchler at the Kempton Park detective office."

Benoni principal Dian Cockcroft of St Francis College attacked, robbed at school
Cockcroft Dian principal attacked beaten StFrnacis College KemptonParkAug2011Benoni principal Dian Cockcroft of St Francis college was left with a bruised face and a black eye: she was attacked, beaten and robbed by two black men who threatened to kill her while opening her school at around 6.40am on July 27.

Journalist Clyde Meela noted that Ms Cockcroft was unlocking the front office when a black man approached her “coming out of nowhere.” She asked if she could help him and the man pushed her to the ground, directing her to "shut up" or he would kill her. When she fell to the ground, her laptop, handbag and school keys fell with her. "I started screaming and calling for help," Cockroft said. "I kicked the school keys under the table to stop them from using them to gain access to the rest of the building." The man started hitting her and continued to tell her to keep quiet or he would kill her. A school staff member arrived and heard her screaming. He looked through a window from the other side of the office, but could not get in as that door was locked. He started banging on the door to make the man aware of his presence. The other intruder then joined his co-attacker and they both grabbed what they could and made off with Cockroft's handbag and laptop. Her handbag contained her personal valuables, such as her ID book, wallet, driver's licence, and a camera with school photos. "I have learned a hard lesson, I will never open the school by myself, it will open after 7am like other schools," said Cockcroft. "If anybody has come across my handbag or the items that were in the bag, please contact the school office on 011 849 2124, to make plans for me to collect them." A case of assault and robbery was opened at the Benoni SAPS.
