Grobler Marthie murdered Geroge June2011 GEORGE NEWS writes that her suspected killer, a 43-year-old man, is in custody. There might be more killers: the police are still examining all the forensic evidence. She was ‘badly mutilated’ said police capt Malcolm Pojie and farm owner Hannes Mostert, who found her body next to her bed on Monday.  “I blame this murder on the moral decay in our country,’ the shocked Mr Mostert commented during his itnerview with the George Herald’s journalist Christo Vermaak. Fornesic experts were quick to identify the suspects from fingerprints left behind at the scene. The Great-Brakrivier police launched a search for the man and arrested him in his home in gleniqua. The only thing of ‘value’ mising was a cellphone which was found in his possession. He is appearing in Mosselbay magistrate’s court Friday. Police located two suspected murder weapons with which Mrs Grobler was extensively tortured: a knife and a pair of scissors. They will still have to establish whether there were more than one murderer and whether the weapons were used on her. Mr Mostert said he last saw Mrs Grobler alive at 6pm on Friday-evening. For the last seven years she worked at Tiger Consumer Brands in the George industrial area and was a member of a ride-along club. When she failed to show on Monday club members contacted Mr Mostert to investigate – and he made his gruesome find.

He said the fifty-nine-year-old Mrs Grobler was a ‘very private person’.' Tiger Consumer Brands manageress Chantel Brink described her as ‘a very dear person. She ewas everyone’s mother Theresa’...Mrs Grobler had no children and her only sister, Mrs Judie Soekoe, died five years earlier. Her nephew Johan Soekoe said the funeral will be planned to take place from the Dutch Reformed Church blanco.

The murdered woman’s niece, Minette Soekoe—a former George Herald journalist now living in New Zealand – is reportedly heartbroken about her cruel death. She remembers her aunt with deep fondness. She told the Herald that ‘my aunt was always there when I needed her’.  She bought her the most wonderful children’s books, and when the girl was in hospital once, Mr Grobler gave her a Pinocchio-hanger which she treasures to this day.  Read
