Xenophobia: 3 Somalian traders kidnapped: Khayelitsha

 

“He doesn’t belong here. So what if he’s dead…’

Rapport Afrikaans newspaper slams the ‘gullability of the SA Police’ in claiming that the kidnapping of three Somalian shopkeepers and then being shot execution style at Sweethome Farms outside Khayelitsha ‘wasn’t a xenophobic attack’. One was killed, two are fighting for their lives in hospital with headshot-wounds.

SAPS captain Frederick van Wyk said they are ‘handling the investigation as an ordinary hijacking and robbery. , “We cannot view this as violence targetting a specific group of foreigners,’ he told the assembled crowd at the crime scene. However one of the onlookers commented – according to Rapport’s story -- : “It’s allright. They don’t belong here.
