ANC youth league supports N.Korea

We  unapologetically support North Korea”ANC youth league spokesman Floyd Shivambu on the eve of the G20 financial summit in South Korea…

Tuesday 9 November 2010 – JOHANNESBURG. South African politicians this week came down hard on the public support given by the African National Congress' youth league  to the North Korean dictatorship.

Democratic Alliance youth league chairman Mbali Ntuli warned today that "The ANC secretary general (he said was named Gwede Mantashe) should take action against his own ANC youth league -- if it turns out that they have indeed provided vocal support for the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il." He warned that pres. Jacob Zuma must also urgently address this before his forthcoming trip to the G-20 economic conference in South Korea on Nov 11-12.

South Africa is a member of the Group of Twenty finance ministers and central bank governors;  established in Berlin in 1999 to bring together important industrialized and developing economies to discuss key issues in the global economy – which currently is plunging into a deepening crisis affecting many millions of people.

The North Korean news agency has quote unnamed ANC youth league officials as 'enthusiastically supporting North Korea" - saying that 'in the past few months the league sent a delegation to a conference in North Korea and praised its dictator King Jong-il as 'the great guardian of peace'.

Pres Jacob Zuma recently increased the influence of the black-racist youth league when he dumped former Mbeki-cabinet members and replaced them with i.a. three former youth league presidents as new Cabinet Ministers on October 31 - thus massively boosting the influence of such black radicals inside his cabinet. http://www.businessday.co.za/articles/Content.aspx?id=126190

We support North Korea unapologetically – ANC youth league

ANC youth league spokesman Floyd Shivambu floydn@gmail.com  confirmed that a delegation was sent in June to North Korea to the World Festival of Youth and Students.

“We support North Korea unapologetically,” league spokesman Floyd Shivambu said - adding: “However, we have never said anything except declaring support for North Korea.”

This was contradicted by several reports in the KCNA news agency which i.a. claimed that  ‘the secretary-general of the ANC Youth League of SA praised Kim Jong-il as the great guardian who firmly guarantees peace and security of not only the Korean Peninsula but the world with his Sonngun (military first) politics.”

ANC youth league secretaru gemera; Vuyiswa Tulelo supports North Korea

According to the youth league’s own website, its current secretary-general is the ambitious Mormon teacher Ms Vuyiswa Tulelo, 32. (pictured). She is described as ‘having an Afro-centric style, a firecracker, the only woman in the top leadership of the youth league. An organiser and strategist with a BA (Politics) from Wits and a board member of the Umsobomvu Youth Fund.’

Mr Shivambu however denied that the quoted youth league representatives had ever made these specific comments (detailed below). North Korea's state-run news agency KCNA recently used the following quotes -  ostensibly obtained from the ANC Youth League secretary-general  - quotes which the ANC youth league spokesman now deny as ever having been spoken.

The news agency KCNA stated in a report on August 12 2010 that:

  • "August 12 2010 Juch 99 - "Songun Politics of DPRK Highly Praised" Pyongyang(KCNA) -- "A lecture took place in Mexico and film shows in South Africa and Thailand on August 6 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership. The president of the Mexican National Coordinating Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea in a lecture explained in detail about the essence, validity and vitality of the Songun politics with the reality of the DPRK.Saying that the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il is the original political mode never known to the world, he stressed that its might is being strikingly demonstrated in the DPRK which has reliably defended socialism from the offensive of the imperialist allied forces to stifle it.
"The secretary-general of the African National Congress Youth League of South Africa praised Kim Jong Il as the great guardian who firmly guarantees peace and security of not only the Korean Peninsula but the world with his Songun politics. Participants of the film shows watched Korean films including 'Reply of Korea'."

They also quoted a "vice-chairman of the ANC youth league" as saying on Sept 3 2010:
"The stand of the DPRK is just and fair."

  • i.a.:- September 3. 2010 Juch 99 - Just Cause of Korean People Supported
"Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- "The 1st meeting of the National Council of the African National Congress Youth League of South Africa, held on August 26, expressed full support for the Korean people's cause of justice.Strongly condemning the U.S. belligerent policy, a vice-chairman of the league, said in a speech: ‘The U.S. is finding fault with the DPRK over its nuclear weapons while threatening it with nukes. We hold that the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula should be solved fairly in view of peace and security. The stand of the DPRK is just and fair.' The meeting sharply assailed the anti-DPRK moves of the U.S. and south Korean puppet clique, who recently cooked up the case of warship "Cheonan's" sinking to bring up the case for discussion at the UN and seek a permanent division while extremely aggravating the situation of the peninsula through provocative war exercises for aggression, and fully supported the independent politics of the DPRK and its stand for independent and peaceful reunification."Copyright KOREA NEWS SERVICE(KNS) All Rights Reserved"

The Democratic Alliance spokesman said the ANC and its Youth League ‘should either distance themselves from these scandalous comments, or they should explain why it is that they are cavorting with despots. Kim Jong-Il's repressive North Korean regime is regarded by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International as one of the most oppressive on the planet. Concentration camps house many hundreds of thousands of North Korean adults and children, where they are the victims of fierce state repression, including rape, torture and medical experimentations. The country is a totalitarian dictatorship, with one of the worst human rights records anywhere in the world.”

"It is outrageous that any South Africans should be lending support to them. The ANC must make it unequivocally clear whether these are the sorts of views they support, or not. If it turns out that the ANC Youth League are indeed actively supporting the North Korean propaganda offensive, then that also something President Zuma should address, particularly in light of his up-coming trip to South Korea, for the G-20."
