There are no signs of any break-in nor a truggle, but the registered gun-safe was open and two of his .22 rifles were missing. Nothing else was stolen from the house. The two friends were not at home at the time – and found him upon their return, said warrant-officer Wanda Olivier of the SAPS.  No further information about Mr Botha was provided by the news report.

Last week Theunis Pelser, 66, a truck-driver for the J&B Sugars shop at the smallholdings, was shot to death. On 16 April Mrs Suna Steenberg (45) was shot in the head and now is in a coma, on 6 april, a homeschooling-matric pupil, Ernst Hoon, 18, was shot dead by someone from outside while he was asleep in his bed.  Olivier said there are ‘no suspects because there were no eye-witnesses and no signs of a struggle or a break-in’. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Kameeldrift-Man-op-sy-hoewe-doodgesteek-20100511
